Ok, I Lied
Mood:
flirty
Well, technically, I didn't lie. I did have some things to post and I posted them. It's just that they ended up being from dates earlier than the last one.
So, I'm just going to go through my drafts. Clear them out. Post some here if I can make them make sense. How's that for desperate? Here we go:

"I Cannot Live Without Books"
Thomas Jefferson
Jan 12, 2006
I had heard about writing alphabetically and it sounded very interesting to me. I tried it and came up with two sentences.
Anita's Breakdown Creates Difficult Emotions For Geraldo. However, I Just Keep Laughing, Mimicking Nonchalance. Other People Quickly React, Showing They're Uncomfortable. Very Weird. Xavier? Yolanda? Zip.
Appalling, Boorish Creatures! Did Everyone Forget Geraldo Had Initially Justified "Keeping Locas Manacled"? Now Only Pathetic Quips Resound. Sigh. Tenseness Undulates Variably Within Xanadu. Yielding Zilch.
And with that I gave up.

Blame It On The Heinemann Gene
I only had the title, but this was going to be a post about how I'm a crier. You know, one of those people who gets teary at the drop of a hat. It used to happen only at sad moives, now it happens much more often. When Lauren does something awesome like play her violin in front of an audience, when I hear stories about kids in awful situations, when I talk with a co-worker going through hard times. It all sets me off. My mom was the same way as were her grandparents. Those Heinemanns...they passed along the crying gene.

If You Hear It Often Enough - It Becomes Reality
Kids are like that - if they hear something often enough, it becomes reality to them.
Lauren obviously heard about her hair often enough and one day, at a party with friends, someone said "Look at you!" to which Lauren replied, "I have beautiful hair".
Later that year we enrolled her in a preschool class. She had never been to daycare and was not used to us dropping her and leaving. We tried to bolster her confidence by telling her how well she was doing. Of course down the road she had to explain to relatives that "I'm getting really good at the drop off thing"

Warning! Disney Alert!
You have to wonder about kids shows and what they are teaching.
Take Charlie Brown - lots of name calling: stupid, idiot, blockhead. Lucy is forever hurting Charlie. And you can't help but feel sorry for poor Charlie in the Halloween special - while all the kids say things like "wow, I got a piece of gum" or "I got a candy bar", at every stop poor Charlie chimes in with "I got a lump of coal". And the cover actually reads "for kids of all ages".
Then there's Disney. I thought it was safe for Lauren to watch, but I'm beginning to wonder. Beauty and the Beast starts out so loud and vicious we won't let her watch it. Many Disney movies have a duo of characters, one wise leader and one stupid follower. Ice Age, Shrek, even Snow White. But I really should have seen it coming when, at 2-3 yrs old, while jumping on the bed, Lauren asked "Do I look like a jackass?" Thank you Pinocchio.
So there you have it. I've cleaned out the drafts and I'll be starting anew. Wish me luck, cuz, you know, I've got Facebook calling me at every turn.
